Athlete's Thread and The BrandR Group announced today that they have partnered with Drake University to launch the first NIL Men's and Women's Basketball Jerseys with the iconic Des Moines' hometown design.
The partnership comes as a result of the new NCAA name, image, and likeness (NIL) rules that allow college athletes to profit from their personal brand. Athlete's Thread, a custom apparel company, and The BrandR Group, who specializes in co branded college business using group player rights, have teamed up to create a unique opportunity for Drake University's basketball teams to capitalize on their personal brands and showcase their hometown pride during the March Madness tournament.
"We are thrilled to partner with Drake University and The BrandR Group to offer both basketball teams the opportunity to showcase their personal brands and represent their hometown on the court," said Karthik Shanad, Athlete’s Thread CEO. "This partnership is a great example of how NIL can benefit student-athletes at Drake and the Des Moines’ community."
The new jerseys, which feature the iconic Des Moines skyline, are available for sale to the public.
"We are excited to be working with Drake University to launch the first NIL basketball jerseys with the iconic Des Moines' hometown design," said Colleen Lennon, Athlete's Thread Director of E-Commerce. "This partnership is a great opportunity for us to showcase our custom made Jerseys that are made in the USA, and how we can help support student athletes within many communities.”
